Wallet Monitoring & Browser Extension
GMGN Quota & Rate Limiting
The GMGN free tier has a very low quota (5 weights per second), and hitting the limit triggers a global cooldown — making additional requests during the cooldown period pushes the block end time even further out. For that reason, the extension prefers to run slow rather than right up against the limit.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Tier | 5 weight/s (recommended) or 15 weight/s. The 15 weight/s tier is only available when this key has had trades in the past 24 hours; if there are no trades, GMGN only allows 5, and selecting 15 will trigger a rate-limit cooldown of up to 5 minutes during which nothing can be queried. When in doubt, use 5. |
| Safety | How much of the quota to use: 20%, 30% (rec.), 50%, 80%, or 100%. Default is 30%. |
| Hard min gap | The minimum time between two requests. Default is 1000 ms; range is 200 to 10000. |
| Burst weight | The maximum weight that can be accumulated during idle time and spent at once. Default is 5; cannot go below 5 (the most expensive endpoint costs 5 weights per call). |
The rate limiter's real-time status and Quota forecast are visible in the extension icon's popup: it shows whether a cooldown is active, how long remains, and which wallet triggered the error. If there are too many wallets or the quota is insufficient, it will indicate how many wallets there is capacity to monitor, and whether the bottleneck is the quota or the polling schedule.
