Telegram: Send to a group with your own bot

1. In Telegram, use the official @BotFather to create a bot. Follow its prompts all the way through — you will receive a Bot Token.
2. Add the bot to the group where you want to receive alerts.
3. Find the Chat ID of that group (group IDs are usually negative numbers). A common method: send a message to the bot in the group, then open https://api.telegram.org/bot<YourToken>/getUpdates in a browser and look for the chat id in the returned content.
4. Go to the Telegram card on the Reminders page of the website, then set Mode to My own bot.
5. Enter the Bot Token and Chat ID.
6. Click Save changes at the bottom of the page.
7. Click Send test message on the card and check whether the message arrives in the group.

If the test message does not arrive, the result pop-up will show the reason. A reason containing "chat not found" usually means the group ID is wrong or the bot is not in the group; if it says the token is invalid, copy the token again from scratch.
