How to stop revenge trading memecoins: put a circuit breaker on yourself
Revenge trading starts when a loss makes you rush the next trade. The warning signs, five rules written as numbers, and how to enforce them automatically.
Revenge trading is what happens when a loss stops being information and becomes something you need to win back right now. You size up, lower your standards and trade faster. At that point you are trading the loss, not the market.
Warning signs
- You open the next trade within minutes of a loss, with no review.
- Your size is bigger than usual because "this one gets it back".
- You buy coins you normally would not touch: smaller, thinner, already pumped.
- Several trades an hour.
- Your stop keeps moving, or disappears.
Five rules, written as numbers
- Losing streak: after N losses in a row, stop for a while.
- Daily loss limit: lose X today and the day is over.
- Drawdown: give back Y% from today's high and stop (with a minimum high, so a $2 gain does not trip it).
- Frequency cap: no more than N trades per hour or per day.
- Hot hand: after a winning streak, take a break before you size up.
Rules only work if something reaches you when you break them. A note in your phone does not.
Have them enforced
TradeGuard turns these into discipline rules with your own thresholds: a drawdown circuit breaker (drawdown, losing streak or daily loss, whichever comes first), a trade-frequency cap and a hot-hand warning. When one trips you get an alert on Telegram, Feishu or Bark, a countdown on the dashboard and on the extension icon, and the Chrome extension pauses you with a "stop for a moment" page when you open GMGN, Binance, OKX and other trading sites. Unlocking early means typing out a sentence admitting you are on tilt.
